gear change from 3.23 to 3.73
I went from a 3.23 to 3.73 gear change and i didn't pick up any et in the qtr mile. I was hoping for 2 to 3 tenth with the change. Do anyone know why this happen? The car has been programed by EW for the gear change. Thanks

Where are you located?
Been real hot this summer so you may be gettin bit by bad weather.
What are your 60 foot times?
When I went from 3.23s to 3.73s my car turned into a smoke monster, traction became my biggest issue.
I am in the middle of putting in a new opti right now but I was also going to wait until this damn heat goes away before I head out to the track again.

Same here. I had a 1.94 60 with a 2.73 rear gear and best with 3.73 is 1.78. ET for 1/4 was 13.25 in cool weather and 13.25 with the 3.73 but much warmer and humid most times. I have a torquey motor in the first place though. I am switching to a 15" rim and ET streets or Hoosier QTP's next year.

i went from 3.23s to 3.73s on a 6 speed car and yeah i notice a difference. Traction is a biatch. hit 2nd hard instead of a chirpy, i start to fishtail then straightens out. and still get mild chirping in 3rd

I'd say it could definately be the weather effecting your times but also going from 3.23's to 3.73's I wouldn't expect anymore than a .25 gain in your times...realistically probably more like a .2 or so.

Your hotcam kit should be loving those new gears....I'd say it would definetely be a weather change. They are in there for sure though right? DId you put them in or did you have it done, does the rpm match at crusing and stuff?

Briefly, the 3.23 rear came with the M29 which had a 2.97 first gear, and was rated at 400 lbs ft. The 2.73 had the M28 with a 3.36 first gear and rated at 360 lbs ft. A bit weaker than the '94 up trans, rated at 450 lbs ft.

maybe a little more than 50 but geez that'd be sweet...get a good second gear downshift at 65mph

DOH...I had no clue the tranny differences of the 93's vs 94+'s...now come to find out they offered 2.73 gears in them too...seems like a LONG time ago I thought they had 2.73s for some reason (probably read it) and was told it was only 3.23's and I don't ever recall two tranny options as mentioned...either I'm rusty or I just never read it.
