Getting oil in rearend???

Alright, I am dumb. I had the rearend out and put it back in without adding the gear oil first. (the stock 10 bolt) I have a TA Cover on it as well. It seems impossible to get an angle with and without a funnel to get it into one of the holes and getting oil in. Any tips on getting this sucker filled back up? Seems like the bottle has no room to go up enough without hitting something preventing gravity from helping me.

Should I go buy some hose to attach to the funnel and just try to do it from farther back behind the car or what? I am at a loss, I am sure there is a simple fix but I am looking past it.

Thanks,

Brandon

Yes it's tricky, because the axle interferes with getting most bottles to tip downward so oil will pour out.

There are cheap little hand pumps you can use for this purpose; I got one at Kragen. I actually got one that screws into the oil jug, somewhat like a soap dispenser.

You'll run into the same sort of problem with the limited slip additive bottle, but since that's shorter you can get it to work. Make sure to put that in, they aren't lying about the chatter.

Take the tip of the Gear lube bottle and put a piece of 3/8" tubing over it, I typically use about 6-8" .. works perfect every time...

I use a small piece of hose on the squeeze bottle, raise the body and drop the rear end away from it a little and hold the bottle inverted.

I have tried all of the above but the easiest is the little pump you can buy that threads right onto the oil bottle. They are a must for gear oil on outboard motors and I bought mine at a marine store. Probably less than $5.

Once the oil bottle gets half empty, I pour the additive into the oil bottle and pump her dry. Works great.
