I think that gm847 works pretty well & we've had good results in the past with it (including Waswa's up there). With a good tuner, I've yet to have a customer think it was too much for a daily driver from a driveability standpoint. Of course these are manual cars, and we aren't taking into consideration the relatively rough idle - but some of us enjoy that sort of thing

I have rode in an 847 cam car and with both cut outs closed and a plate in the Borla, its very tolerable, I have ridden in much worse.

I am really not concerned with it being quiet or anything, I want it to have a good lope to it and it sounds like the 847 cam does have some lope. Seems like it would be a good choice for a bolt on car. What is the power range for that thing. I would imagine it is like 3200 to 6400 or something like that, I have no idea I am just guessing. But does anyone have any numbers as far as that goes?

Thats my stock head dyno graph through a 12 bolt, SAE corrected.
I was shifting it at 6600-6700.
As for running 1.5 rockers, thats fine and dandy, BUT NOT THE STOCK ONES! Those flimsy stamped POS will snap in a heartbeat with big spring pressure and high rpms.

How is this cam so much better than the XE 230/236?
I understand that there is more overlap and lope, but how about that bottom end torque factor for the street? Shouldn't the XE drop the peak hp rpm by a couple hundred rpms?
What kind of stall would you have to run with this cam? 3000? I know with the XE grinds, we don't need as much of a stall than with the magnum serries grinds, plus it has more power throughout the powerband, not the peak.
Seems like the XE would be a better street cam, but if it isn't, please let me know, I'm about to install one in a friends car, and if the gas and lugging factor isn't that much different for a daily driver, I'll go with the 847. (plus we will be racing on the street some)

Here, http://www.madz28.com/chris847.mpg is a idle sound clip of the 847 in my car with open plate borla....The car on a mustang dyno was still making power at 6800rpm the power never fell off... I made 363rwhp with Ion (madz28.com) doing the tuning.....

My friend runs that cam in his daily driver 97 Z28 M6. His car runs fine, once its tuned it has real good street manners and idles fine. No more agresive than a CC306 car. I could see driving a cam like that every day, he does with out any complaints. His car is also stock headed, with the exception of valve springs and rockers. Hes moving up to some AFRs shortly for it. The car runs great though.
Be glad to post some sound clips if anyone could suggest a website or host for me, about 4-5 megs, have 2 clips, dual cutouts or through the Borla.

the 847 cam is not sold in a kit like the hotcam is it? Another thing, if I put just the cam in and did not rev it past 5500 with the stock rockers and all that, would it be ok for just driving around town and stuff till I get the money to beef up the valvetrain, or would I like bend the pushrods and break the rocker arms and stuff. Kind of on a limited budget But I just wanted to see if I can get it in there and do the rest when I got more money.

My engine's power peaked at 6400rpm but at 6800rpm it had only lost about 7hp.
