GM high volume oil pump?
Does GM offer a higher volume oil pump for '94 Z-28 LT1 engine? Does anyone know if the LT-4 pump is the same as LT1 or might it produce higher volume? Any after market pumps for LT1? Any personnal experiance regarding installation mods., pressure output and etc. would be appreciated.

My opinion comes from several shops as well and a high volume pump is not good for a street machine. Only those engines which see high rpms constantly. It puts too much oil at the top end of the engine and warms it up too much. Standard volume is what you want. Standard pressure too.
On the main bearing cap in the back where the pump sits its a good idea to smooth out and chamfer the hole that gets the oil from the pump. Provides less chance of cavitation and ensures good smooth flow.
Be sure to weld the pickup to the pump and use the type with a mounting bracket too. If you weld it, remove the pressure regulator before welding so you dont damage it from the heat.
