going cai

was going to wait and go cai in the summer, but after doing some work on my car today i realized i got to do it now. intake elbow is messed up. the damn thing is melted/cut on one site. had to do what i could today to get it back on with the whole/slit covered. also the air filter has seen its better days, so i figured i would do it now instead of in a few months

was wondering what you all think, since im going to buy a new intake elbow, better to go with a kit with the intake elbow included like slp's. or go with a cai like moroso and buy an intake elbow seperate

since you have a 94 chances are you won't find an all inclusive kit due to the fact we 94+ have MAF sensors. I would recomend finding a stock elbow on ebay or something and a stock filter but if you want a CAI eventually your right...now WOULD be a good time.

IMO the stock style rubber intake elbow is crap and will just rip again in the future. Look into a metal elbow like the Trickflow.

trick flow still uses a rubber connector which is just as prone to ripping as the stock style rubber intake elbow. and a 1LE is a hell of a lot cheaper than a trickflow

Well I can't speak first hand on the Trickflow coupler, but my Vortech silicone coupler has lasted 9 years with many removals/installations. The stock POS crapped out in about 2 years and is has the same interface and material as the 1LE.

Then you don't know how to put it on, If you properly put it on it wont get worn out.

I'd just buy a new 1LE elbow as they're about $50-60 last time i checked and then i'd buy a used CAI. I bought my CAI used off of this site for about $100 shipped. Its just as good as a new one and about half the price.
I agree if you're ripping your elbow you're not doing it right. My stock one lasted 10 years and was just fine until i got impatient one time and forced it over my 58mm TB because i didn't want to loosen my SS Ram Air. If not it would still be on my car in one piece.

I would go with the slp cai no matter what you decided to do on the elbow. They look way better than any other cai imo.

well i guess i may just ask for opinions then. seems if i go with a k&n or a moroso kit, i will have to buy an intake elbow aside whether it be the 1le (where can i buy it?) or trickflow/vortech, and that would be about the same price as the slp kit which comes with the elbow.

so im thinking ill do moros or k&n with the 1LE, unless someone can convince me to go vortech/trickflow

Theres one reason to go with vortech/trickflow and thats looks, so take a look at them and if you have the money and want it get it, if you dont like the look or dont like the money then definately get the 1LE, its the same part as the stocker just lacking that huge peice underneath, heck mine even came with a new IAT sensor
