Re: good cam for stock car
I say keep your car how it is!!! Dont put a cam in your car until you can afford to do some head work, or stroker. You need to be ready to pay for labor if you cant do it yourself. Also gaskets, fuel injectors, lifters, fuel pump, fluid, for example ( oil, oil filter, coolant,
freeon<---spelling?) Oh and dont forget tuning..... only a moron would instal a cam in their car with out tuning it. You get sooooo much more out of it with a mail order tune. There is much more to it than just throwing the cam in it. The only reason I say this is because you said you want it to run like this for 5 to 6 years. you have to do it right with all this stuff at the same time or it wont last that long. Period.

P.s. Long Live the Hotcam!!!!!!

see my dad is trying to talk me out of it. He wants me to wait and just rebuild the whole motor when it starts giving me trouble. I don't know what I am going to do.

Mine made the #'s in the sig with a dyno tune. Not sure on the mileage, as I dont drive the car very much these days, but it seems to do ok. Idles fine and drives great, makes more power and torque than the stock cam everywhere, peaks at 6k.

Re: good cam for stock car
ok well my winter project has now turned into my summer project, i didnt have the money to do the cam and valvetrain but i did do longtubes and a tune. I would like to do a cam this summer so lets reopen this thread and see if anyone else has anything to say.
Once again I want a good cam that will work with my stock motor and with all the mods I want to put down 350-360 to the wheels.
