I don't think you'll go low 12s without heads and everything else being perfect, unless you do it with weight reduction.

Depending on your DA and if you can hook it up it will go 12's.

3300 with you in it is light compared to a fourth gen, and with a bit more stall but more weight and less gear my LT1 went 12.8s with boltons.

The big reason i am doing this is bc i HATE RICERS and i would like to beat the mostly stock LS1's and the WRXs and cars like that. When i pop my hood and i have a 305 tbi im not proud of that at all u know but when they see a LT1 that will be sweet then have the power to back it all up.
thanks
kevin

if you don't have an F-Body, i.e. you have a car weighing 4000+, you should consider an RV type cam. They are configured and designed for pulling power. I.e, pulling out of the hole. The Crane 210/224 or the LPE 211/219 fit that profile.

I run the 227 in my 97SS and gets it on out of the hole. JMHO

+1

Low end tq is a lot more fun on the street then peak power anyway. It sucks getting pulled off the line by minivans unless you go 75% throttle

Not trying to hijack but, how does the 227 act throughout the whole powerband? Where does it stop pulling in your vehicle?

Its a 6000 RPM cam. Most stock or mild build Lt1s hit their peak power around 5700+-.

While it had Edelbrock 1 5/8" shorties attatched to the stock exhuast including stock cats it turned 12.6 @ 110.5mph at a 600ft. ele. track. Car would get 27mpg on the highway and high teens to low 20's in the city. Drove just like stock. It used to be dubbed an "RV cam" back in the day because of its low end grunt. I think my power peaked right around 5900rpm. Shift points were at 6200rpm. IMO you won't find a better performing cam for what it is. As far as lopey goes, if you run it with cats then it'll sound stock. No one will be able to tell except you and someone who knows what to listen for. W/out cats it'll have a bit more of a lope to it, but nothing to write home about.
read that.....you could also look at the LPE 219/219 cam.
