got my 15" centerline telstars in the mail today

I know this is in the wrong forum, but no one ever responds in the wheel/tire one...besides this kind of about brakes.

anyways, i just put the wheels on without any tires to make sure they fit. the back ones went on okay, but the front ones seem to hit the caliper a little bit. the caliper doesnt stop the wheel from moving, but it does rub a little. i was just wondering if this is normal, i do have almost brand new pads up there. another thing is, they werent on with lug nuts, i was only holding the wheels on and pushing on them, so it might get a little worse when they are snugged down. any suggestions?

one other thing, this is for people who have these wheels....the centercaps that came with the 4 wheels are different with the front and rear wheels. (i got 15x4 and 15x8 by the way).....the ones that came with the front wheels, fit in perfect with all 4 wheels. but the ones that came with the rear wheels are too fat to fit in any of the wheels. is this just a screw up from the factory?? i'm sure a local wheel shop can get me 4 nice centercaps to fit in there, but i just want to know if this happened to anyone else. thanks!

I have a pair of those 15x4's that I use at the track, they rubbed slightly too when I got them. It was rubbing on the caliper where the center section of the rim was welded to the outer wheel. There were a few rough spots in the welding that I smoothed out with a dremel. It only took like 5 minutes to clean up the high spots then they were fine. It's very close to the caliper but theres just enough clearance left that I didnt need to use spacers. I assume you have 1LE brakes up front so I dont know if you might have more of a problem than I did since I still have stock brakes.

Greg,

Just dremeled out that part on one of my front wheels, and you are the MAN! I was really nervous when I first put those on and they were getting caught on the calipers, ut you saved my day. I'll go do the other wheel now. Thanks for the advice.

Anyone got any idea about those centercaps?

So the one pair of centercaps dont fit on either the front or back wheels? If so I would just call Summit and tell them they don't fit, maybe they sent a pair for another style wheel by mistake.

Glad that worked out for you on the fronts, I wasnt sure if it was the same deal with your 1LE calipers

Yeah only one pair fits the front and back. One pair (one came with each rear wheel) doesn't fit any of them. The two that came with the front wheel fit all 4 wheels. The wheels were shipped direct from Centerline I think.

Do you guys know anyone that makes custom centercaps? I would probably rather have that done. Just have them say "Camaro" or "Chevrolet", maybe even "1LE".....I dont know, tell me what you guys think.

Thanks again, Greg.

I noticed some rubbing in the front when I had the wheel turned all the way to one side or the other, but that eventually stopped.

I haven't gotten around to the 2nd wheel yet, but it definitely did the trick on the one I did. Turns nice and smooth now without any problems. It would have taken me a while to figure it out, I was lookin around at the outer edges of the rim, not really the center section right near the lugnuts. Good thing for Greg!!

Anyone know the best place to get Drag Radials??

Thanks
- Adam

Call summit and make them send you the right caps, and also make sure they pay the shipping for you to return the caps to them because it was their mistake.

www.discounttiredirect.com is teh best place for new drag radials.

This would still be the wrong forum then because there is also a brake/suspension forum

I'll leave this here since you are having trouble finding an answer. But, we still need to try and use the proper forums when at all possible. If nobody uses the other forums because they think nobody goes there then nobody will ever use them

No problems here. I have a 93 which has the smaller brakes in the front so rubbing wasn't a factor for me though. My centercaps are interchangeable between all 4 wheels. I went with the 15x4 and 15x10 combo. Pics below
