Lightbulb Got a question about a motor.

Has anyone heard of or done themself a motor swap on a LT1 based platform with a non LT1 or LS1 motor series? And if so how was it done?

Re: Got a question about a motor.

I think there are some around that have put LS motors into a LT1 car. Also, there are those who have converted the LT1 to a carb setup. The LS swap is not exactly cheap(you can build a more powerful LT1 for less money than that....).

Can you give more specifics as to what you are trying to accomplish?

He might be asking about a SBC engine into a F body or other LT1 car. I've seen BBCs in a F Body, but not a SBC, but it's probably been done a lot of times..

I am. What I'm working with is a 1986-94 SBC 350 bored to 383 pushing about 480hp that I bought while I was deployed for my toy, a '95 Z28. The shop I bought it from told me the age range for the block. The other day I dropped it in the bay and went to bolt up the mounts which the right side (left looking at) are a mix of aftermarket and original upgraded mounts but it puts the block a little too far back and the ends of the block where the starter mounts to and where the oil filter are hitting the sides of the transmission hump at the firewall. Now, before I start hammering or cutting to make room on the tranny hump, I was wanting to know if somebody here has done this before so I could hopefully get some pointers. But if not, I'm just gonna have to plan a way around this or if someone here knows of a website that makes aftermarket motor mounts for such a thing or not. I'm sorry for all the run-on sentences. I'm just doing this really quick before I forget what I'm trying to say and explain. Lol. Thanks guys.
