How did you know how much to take off, any special method?

just thought i'd offer. i used a caliper measured it first and just kept checking.i'm a machinist by trade so i got pretty good at judging thousands.best of luck to you i'm sure you'll get it done.by the way i broke 2 opti's before i figured it out.

Just wondering but on a 94 car with the small dowel would it even matter if it was even out?.....Like couldnt you just grind it even with the cam? As in the longer dowel frrom the lt4 cam...
