guide plates

i called my local speed shop today and asked about getting guide plates for my lt1 heads and he said that i have to get machien work on them to make them fit do i or can they just bolt right up

They just bolt right up. I have some trickflow guideplates if you want them. I'm not sure where in FL you are since it would probably cost as much to ship them as they are new.

ISKY or GMPP guideplates are the only ones that will work for sure. I don't remember about the trickflow's but if speed_demon says they do, then they probably do. He knows.

Your machinist probably assumed you were talking about the Gen I LT-1 that had pressed in studs. Heads that have pressed-in studs need to have the rocker stud bosses machined flat for bolt-in rocker studs.

They will work fine.
