thanks

What rockers do you mean? Be more specific. If they are the stock type, they are self-aligning.

If you need guideplates, get the GM 14011051.

The rockers are Jegs part number 778-66905
When i looked at the tips of the stocks and the tips of these.. the stocks had a noticable grouve.... and these are flat...
Sorry bout the first post lacking specifics... let me know if you need more detail...

Those are self-aligning, just like the stock ones. The ball washer and shape of the rocker arm keep it centered. Besides the slot, the only real difference between those and the stockers is the roller tip.

Hey Shoebox...

Aren't those guide plates for a V6?

There was a thread about this recently...they're the right guideplates but they come up as V-6 guideplates.

Whats different about the GMPP guide plates that makes them better than say a set from summit?

Probably nothing, except they're only $3.00 each, so $20 for the set.

Probably there are alot of guideplates that might work, but they have to fit the LT-1 head.

As long as it's made of good steel a guide plate is a guide plate, you know?

Based on other threads and observations, the GM ones fit the LT1 valve spacing correctly and the regular SBC type do not.

Here is something interesting.

I have a GMPP catalog from 1998, and in it I looked up the guide plate 14011051 that we're talking about here.

It says:
---------------------------------------------------
14011051 - Guideplate (Aluminum Bowtie Head)

This hardened steel guidplate has the correct pushrod spacing for the aluminum bowtie heads.

Tech Note: This guideplate is identified by the stamped number "05." These guide plates should not be used with slotted tip rockers. Pushrods slots should be 0.365".
----------------------------------------------------

So it doesn't mention 6-cylinder engines in this description.
