Just make sure when you remove the hub you take the center bolt out!!

I now notice that both of you guys that are saying to use a hub puller have 1997s.

Hmmmm...the pulley are different now since you mentioned it. See pic. Wonder why the part number covers 93-97?
97 crank pulley
Edit: From my picture, a jaw puller won't work on a 97.

To answer your question, you would just assemble the crow foot puller and bolt straight through the pulley to the hub.

Does the crank pulley have some sort of balance? I noticed the aftermarket I used to have had a hole drilled in it...I assumed that's what it was for. If it was balanced I personally wouldn't want to risk drilling holes in it.

well doing the cam now is a so so idea, there is still lots to undue, such as the intake , and timing chain, plus new springs on the heads. I hate having to tear apart everything twice or more, so if you feel the same and you've got the time, I say go for it, its not bad, and everytime you need to work on the engine again, it will seem easy in comparision. I couldn't get my balancer off from the hub either, I found it much easier to pull both off together. I marked the arrow white on the balancer and made sure it was pointing straight up before pulling, this way I knew where it needed to go. I worked for hours on the darn thing, then pulled them both in about 5 minutes. Take out the center bolt, go to the hardware store pick one up that is longer, I think double the length of stocker and thread it in there a good amount otherwise it will pull on the few threads and ruin them and use the puller and it just comes right off.

Thanks for the info. I just got the pulley off and removed the opti. I can figure out how to get it open. I feel like a retarded monkey for some reason, lmao!! Are these just really small "bolts" or something?

Mine didnt want to come off either.....so what I did was spray it good with Rusteater and let it soak for an hour or 2 then I reapplied the 3 jaw puller and whacked on it with a rubber mallet real hard.....sprayed it again ......whacked some more......torqued down on the puller again and off it came. I put some antisieze on the damn thing before I put it back on.
