Head Porting?

Well I am eventualy going to go with an LE setup but for now I am looking to go with a hotcam and some ported heads. I am about to get my long tubes and I was wanting to add the cam and heads at the same time for that extra umph. Any suggestions?

Re: Head Porting?

How fast do you want to go? I would get a better cam to start, and worry about heads later.

Re: Head Porting?

If you grind on these heads now I would count on having to buy another set later for Lloyd to work.

Please... the Hot cam is a great cam! As far as a daily driver there is no better cam in my opinion. Do the head work and run deep 12's, what is wrong with that?

Re: Head Porting?

Well I am not going to have the money for a while to go with the LE setup, so I think it would be worth it do port now and buy some junkyard heads later. I am going to ho with the hotcam, lt4 springs and retainers, pacesetters, maybe tru duals, comp cam magnum 1.6 RR,s, But what pushrods? Would the comp cam Magnum pushrods be O.K. If so what size do i go with? Thanks guys yall are a huge help.

Thanks, 10's - that's just sick NA!

The hotcam will be fine. It is a great daily driver cam and will make nice power. I just think there are better cam choices out there. Some grinds have less total duration but are rated higher at .050 than the hotcam because it has pretty lazy ramps. The LT4 springs are certainly better than the stock ones but again, better parts are available. I'm just trying to help.

I'd go with the comp 502 or the 305 and 986 springs. Do the headwork later when you really want to get serious. JMHO.

Re: Head Porting?

Thanks Guys. Well my wife came home last night and asked me what I needed for my car to be faster I told her an LE package, Headers, TB, Injectors, RR's, Pushrods, and some 3:42s. Then she told me "OK, You buy the headers, and smaller stuff for it and I will buy you the LE package, TB, and gears with my income tax money. I to my wife.

Re: Head Porting?

You really need some 373s. That would really wake that thing up.

Re: Head Porting?

You think? I was thinking the 342s would give me a good low end but still good top end. What do you think I will be running with car wise. With the LE1 all the acompanying (sp) mods and a 150 hp shot?
