Header Help
Ok
I have searched countless times and maybe im not getting the right keywords but if i can get these questions answered.
i have a 95Z
i got some stuff for it already not on yet though
I am investing into some hooker longtubes and apparently a Y-pipe
ok my questions are
Why do i need a new Y-pipe and what does it do (im a noob)
i know it goes 2-1 exhaust but what do i need a new one
what do i need for a complete header install
And since im gettin LT's i take it there goes my cats even though i want them
any help would be appreciated

Re: Header Help
you need a new Y pipe because the long tubes are just that... long. The factory Y pipe hooks to the manifolds up in the engine bay while the long tubes end back near the tranny crossmember. As far as the cats, you will lose them if you go with LTs unless you have a custom Y pipe made with cats.

Both have useful install pages with color pictures. That should answer all your questions.

Re: Header Help
Make sure to use a quality gasket and bolts. LOCKING bolts. You'll use a lot of PB Blaster too, or WD-40. If you are using an off road y-pipe, you'll need EGR block off plates and o2 sims. You don't need the sims, but you'll throw a code if you don't. I figured I would put the $40 for the sims toward my tune savings and just get it turned off then. You'll need zip ties too to keep your plug wires away from your headers. Some heat shielding tape won't hurt, either. And an LT4 knowck sensor. The headers are a lot louder, so your sensor might pick up some false knock and retard you timing.
