headers or exhaust

Re: headers or exhaust
well headers will give you more power but w/ the stock cat back its hard to say which would be better. you may not gain more power w/ the stock catback. i would look at it at which one are you saving mroe money on? both would be a good start to modding.

Re: headers or exhaust
If your going to get the Macs sooner or later I would go ahead and get them and buy a cutout (i think you can pick them up for around 40-45 bucks) to get the gains before you install a cat-back. If you plan on getting headers but not set on a certain pair, I would go ahead and get the cat-back. Although, if you get the Loudmouth and later LT's you may be complaining that the car is to loud.

Re: headers or exhaust
well my buddie has a site called www.getspeedparts.com and i will be getting them through him the idea fot he headers and the cutout seem to make the best plan for now cause the header gains seem to be much more and cut out and headers? that will sound bad ***

Re: headers or exhaust
I would also recommend the MAC's 1st, and a cutout in place of the cat (if you don't need to pass emmisions)
If you get the loudmouth, it might sound like crap once you put headers on anyways. MANY complain about the sound of the Loudmouth with Headers and no cat.
...and yes, a car can be too loud. I've heard many very crappy sounding exhausts that people thought were cool just because they were loud.

Re: headers or exhaust
I have nothing against Longtubes, but here were some of the reasons I chose midlengths instead. This is not meant to start a war, but not everyone wants LT's. After researching the options, the Midlengths made more sense for me. Some of my reasons for midlengths, specifically MAC's:
1) Better Ground Clearance than most LT’s
2) Better Spark Plug Access that any LT header that I’ve seen
3) Comparable Power Gains to LT’s, proven up to 400 rwhp
4) Interchangeable cat, off road pipe, or bullet muffer
5) Jet-Hot Coated with Y-pipe for $560 shipped, or uncoated with Y-pipe for low $400’s shipped
6) No O2 extensions needed, at least they weren’t needed on my car
7) Retain stock spark plug routing. (this might be true of LT’s also)
8) Easier install than LT’s, in general

Re: headers or exhaust
I would definetly recomend the Mac mids first I have them and my times are through a stock I pipe with a Flowmaster muffler only as far as exaust goes.
I gained 3/10 in the 1/4 with my Mac Headers.
check my sig for times.
