which headers to get???

Re: which headers to get???
First... do a search before you ask. You will find a TON of info on headers and what are good ones.
Second... Pacesetter seem to be the most popular on this site. Easy installation. Awsome plug access. Thick flange. Slip fit y-pipe. Go with the coated ones.

Re: which headers to get???
I picked up a set of Jet Hot LT's last summer and couldn't be happier. They fit like a glove (then again I also have an aftermarket kmember) and all the welds were top notch.
Basically they're the same design as the Hooker's except for having thicker flanges (that's a good thing) and from what I hear, are also made of a heavier gauge tubing then the hooker's since they weigh more. Whether or not that's true, I cant say 'cause I've never weighed the hooker's.
Expect to loose a bit of torque on the low end (compared to shorties) but you shoud pick up a noticible amount HP at 3500 and up.
Honestly though, unless you plan on making 450+ at the wheels, I'd stick with shorties. They're easier to install, have more ground clearance and most (not all) already come with a ypipe.
( I had no trouble hitting 350 N/A RWHP and 500+ on the bottle using edelbrock shorties - yup, the same ones's EVERYBODY likes to put down
If on the other hand, you insist on going LT, I'd reccomend Jet Hot.

Re: which headers to get???
I'm in the process of installing my Pacesetter ceramic coated long tubes right now. Out of the box, they appear to be a very good quality header and you have the option to get them with AIR and EGR fittings as I did if you are trying to keep the car as emissions friendly as possible. The only con about the header is the bolts and gaskets they supply. For that, I am going to use Fel-Pro 1406 gaskets sprayed with copper gasket adhesive and ARP 1" stainless header bolts. A search will net you numerous posts about headers, brands, power gains, installation, ect.

Re: which headers to get???
similiar question im thinkin of gettin pacesetter but idk if its alil overkill, because i only plan on boltons with this car until way down the road a possible motor swap, is it still worth it for the pacesetters or just go mid/shorty route to gain the extra torque? thx guys

I'm getting ready to order the stainless Kooks 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8...I researched this alot and they seem to be the best out there...even if they are a little pricey...

I still say a good set of shorties is all he needs for what his goals are.

Re: which headers to get???
I'm answering the question posed by the originator of this thread and there's no mention of his car being a bolt on car...no need for the He was asking what the best headers were and thats a broad statement...I think Kooks makes a great header and you can get them in the 1 3/4 only and the stepped. To the guy who came in in the middle wanting header advice for a bolt on car, then a 1 3/4 shorty would do the trick. Geez...
