Cool headers a pain

finally got the headers on, pacesetter LT's with 3in y-pipe, it took us only about 12hrs or so, thank goodness that my son has smaller hands than I do and is a tech for toyota has the right tools or we would still be there. both sides went in from the top, had to loosen motor mounts, remove air/pump and egr, replace plug wires, did not have to remove starter but did remove oil filter, no codes, runs alot better and going to track wednesday night, lots more room under hood now, putting on Edelbrock SDT Muffler, SDT Series, 3 in. Inlet/ Dual 2.50 in. Outlet, Steel, Ti-Tech Coated,
part #EDL-55763 from Summit, get the pipes put in tuesday with 3in pipe with mandrel bens over the axle, in the stock position, no cats. sorry no pictures.

Re: headers a pain in the @#$

Sweet. Yeah I hear installing longtubes are a pain but better you doing it than shelling out a pretty penny for someone else installing them. Good job.

Good job... long tubes are a pain to install, but wait until you do your next spark plug change, the job will be a walk in the park.

Re: headers a pain in the @#$

i got to the part where i had to reroute the fuel lines and called it quits there. i'm looking for a set of mids with true dual setup that exits before the axle now.

You shouldn't have to reroute any fuel lines for LTs..there's another post about this this right now too.

Re: headers a pain

I am sorry to say the PITA is not over, now keeping them sealed will be tha hard part. I have tried several different gaskets, put Earl's Pressure masters in the other day and am hoping they work. These were $40 but I spent a lot more than that on 4 sets of cheaper gaskets I tried first.

Re: headers a pain

this was over 2 years ago...they're long gone.

and on a 97 car you do have to reroute the fuel lines...and a few brake lines too. otherwise you'll be boiling everything out. the header flange was right on the lines...no clearance at all. i'd rather deal with mids and lose the extra 5 hp or so.
