headers and stock y-pipe quesiton

will headers fit together with our stock y-pipes.............i asking about this for a friend. He has a 96 trans am with a flowmast cat-back. He is buying some long tube headers and is wondering if they will fit with the stock y-pipe. thanks a lot guys!!

I don't think they'll fit at all. If he was going with shorties, yeah, bot NO with long tubes. From what I understand. With a dual cat car, he'll haev to go with an offroad Y-pipe, and O2 sims. Shop around ya may find a cat pipe for long tubes but I haven't seen any. I am currently looking into buying Hooker longtubes and a stainless works offroad Y-pipe. But emissions aren't a problem where I live. Just my $0.02 worth.

how much is a decent off-road pipe??

You can find some prefab. ones for ~$250, but a lot of people have fitment issues with these. The best option is to have a custom y-pipe made at an exhaust shop.

Summit has a new y pipe for Hooker longtubes in their catalog but I haven't seen anyone here who has gotten one yet.
