Heater Hose P/N Challenge!!

My 96SS needs a new heater hose (10261147) but I cant find a decent price (GMpartsdirect wants $96.32 plus $140.23 SHIPPING AND HANDLING!!!)

I did find a dealer that will ship it to me for about $125 (thanks shoebox for the diagram and links) but I'm a little tight with my money.

Challenge (for some): What are the part numbers for the separate heater hoses so I can reuse the metal and clamp on new hoses. I know that Gates makes them but cant find a complete PN list. See O'Rielly auto parts hoses, but I'm not sure which ones I need (for sure).
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...aro&vi=1035931

Shoebox has a breakdown of the hoses, but the inlet heater hose does not have a part number (see below):

I would rather have the complete hose assembly, but I'll recycle the metal if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I bought one off ebay for like ten dollars and has worked nice. they currently have a few heater hoses and ac lines on ebay if you just go to the ebay website and in the search click lt1 you will see it but will take some time theres alot of **** on the pages. The reason is there are a couple of wrecked camaros on ebay and they are parting them out currently i have had no problems with my hoses. I think when i got my leak it caused the system to start only spraying hot iar out of the bottom vents is that what yours is doing.

In my SS, the heater hoses have broken down and all need to be replaced. The hose nearest the water pump on the top started leaking. I was going to cut off the hose a bit, but when I pulled it off the hose is now super soft and can't hold pressure. I need all new hoses.

Thanks Again

The only thing is that they are blue but only cost about 110.00 for the whole set. Well anyway go to the website summit racing .com and check it out.

I just replaced the entire heater hose assembly about 10 days ago. I was going to go your route and replace parts of it (since it's so expensive) but every few days a new portion of the hose would leak.
I bought it from a dealer that had one in stock for about 180, since most parts stores don't carry the part. My 2 cents on this is to replace the entire assembly at once so you don't have to worry about something else leaking (couplers, etc) and having to redo it. It was a hassle replacing it but worth it.

Probably right and when you replaced your heater hoses what were the affects of your hosese leaking what did it cause. I remember mine blowing air only from the bottome vents due to a sensor or something. I havent had any problems since though and i used the couplings and yeah its a bitch taking it apart and off and then putting it back in.

I had to buy that whole thing a few years ago. I tried trimming the bad sections out and it just kept failing. If I remember correctly, the dealer I got it from charged me roughly $180 and said none of the parts could be replaced individually. Just got around to installing it a couple weeks ago while I had the motor out.

Something has to be wrong with that. They charged me <$20 to ship mine. Something weird going on, there.

Still, I think the best way to service it is to buy the whole assy.

Definitely the best time to do it! It is a real pain with the engine in the car.

It was incredibly easy to get to it with the body on the lift. It would be awful trying to get the clamps off the heater core and the bolt holding it to the wheel well. I did make the mistake of forgetting to replace the oil pressure sensor I broke before I bolted the k member back in. That was not a fun experience.

Wow! Great responses! I really appreciate the help.

No lift, so I get to do it on jackstands (I need to replace the A/C compressor at the same time). If anybody needs a contact name for A/C parts let me know and I will provide the name.

I just got a reply from Jason Cromer he can get the hose assembly for $109 plus $12 shipping. (see shoebox's website for parts suppliers links including Jason's contact #), sorry benhart21, I hate when someone points out I could have saved some cash AFTER I spend the dough.

I've got an email request to GMpartsdirect.com to verify the SH.

But I still need all the other hoses as well (radiator, throttle body, overflow tank..). I'm liking the kit from Summit, but blue I'm not so crazy about. But definitely the best price (thanks Slick-Z for the info) I've seen for all the hoses needed.

Thanks All Again!

Re hoses

I just purchased new heater core hose kit from gm parts direct for my 94 z28
was a much better price than the local gm dealer wanted $225.00 for the kit
and I paid with shipping $135.00.I would not go to the used hose rotine because before you know it will be doing the same thing. The only parts I ever buy is body parts used doors, wheels etc not mechanical I have been there before buying the mechanical ones used next thing you know there are shot I tried to patch mine up a couple of days ago but has a slow leak coming from were I had patched it.I agree being orginal I thought the same thing replace it.The second thing I have a problem with is adding coolant to the raditor took me about 2 hours to fill it up with the car running with the fluid up letting it cool down again and again before before the level did not drop.
