Angry Help!!

I CANNOT get the passanger side o2 sensor off!! I even got the special socket but there isnt enough clearence to get it on the sensor and have the ratchet on there.. What if... I unplug the old one and just dont use the o2 sensor? or. what if i unplug it and plug the new one in BUT dont put the new o2 sensor into the exhaust? meaning, it would be secured somewhere underneath the car and just be reading off of the clean air that passes? Does anyone know what would happen in either scenario? Please help quickly, car is on jackstands and needs to be running by 4pm

try a open ended wrench 14mm i think the size is when you get it off make sure you put anti seize on so you dont have it happen again

If the O2 is before the CAT you'll have to replace it. It's one of the computor controls. If it's after the CAT you can use a SIM. The O2 will not work unless it gets HOT, so you can't just leave it in the wind.
Remember the O2 that your taking off does not have to remain in one piece.

have you sprayed any kind of penatrant on there, like PB blaster?

if the car HAS to be running before 4 pm, and all else fails, you can still drive the car with no o2 sensor, it'll just run in open loop(idle kinda high, run a little rich) but you can still get somewhere.

and then come back and work some more on it tommorrow.

There is some pb blaster you can spray on there. I have heard it works wonders on getting frozen o2's off.

Get an open-ended wrench or smth simular! I went to a home depot & picked up a set of pretty flat sockets with an opened area. I am finding that set useful anytime I'm working in tight spaces for now...
If you definitely need ride while HO2 is 1/2 changed, better keep an old one, or unplug both of them and ignore SES light. You will be running pretty rich though.

For testing outside a car try searching this board or google, for example http://www.autotune.com/techtips/o2.html
I am sure there will be no need resetting PCM. If you want to do it, you can unplug your battery or just turn your key on ON, pull PCM fuse out (behind the door panel), turn key off, put fuse back.
