?help?

what would cause the car to pop in the intake. could the intake elbow be the problem because it is old and comming apart. what could be the problem. the car runs fine but it just pops when i rev it up. just a first. like at 1000 to 2000 rpms.

If it is sucking in air after the mass air sensor, thats is probably your problem.
It lets unmetered air into the intake.

You might want to add a signature showing the basic info like the year of your car, tranny type and any major mods. A torn inlet elbow screws up the MAF cars pretty badly. But is isn't going to do too much to a speed-density 93, other than fill the cylinders with nice dirty air.

the car is a 94. it is a stock a4 car. sorry.

Add a "signature"..... then you won't have to keep typing the information on every post.

Before you do anything else, patch or replace the inlet elbow..... you are really screwing up the air/fuel control by letting air bypass the MAF, and you are pouring filthy, hot, unfiltered air into your engine. Fix the elbow, then see how it runs.
