Help, Bad ThermoStat or bad new pump?

I've followed the directions on shoebox's site but it just aint working.

I run the engine and with the cap off and wait for the tstat to open but I never see it open the coolant just sits there and eventually starts to flow out the cap.
I have to eventually shut it off so it doesn't overheat.

I just installed a new pump ( old sensor and tstat).

Any suggestions?

You should have bleeder valves in the water pump hoses. Try bleeding them out and see if that helps. Start the car and crack one at a time and wait for water to come out.

I tried the bleeder screws with the cap on and off and I can get a steady flow of coolant from both when the cap is on. The temp guage still seems to race to the redline.

"you should see coolant circulating in the radiator tubes" - I dont think this is happening or is it? I see overflow or calm water, but nothing circulating (river like).

Well I'm pretty sure if u get flow from both bleeders that ur thermostat is opening. Try flushing the radiator out.

another note: the radiator is cold but the temp guage is extremely hot, and the water pump is hot.

OK I'm STUPID. I know the exact reason the coolant system is not working.

It has nothing to do with air in the system. Anyone wish to guess what I did wrong?

Hint: I'll have to do it all over again and i found the mistake by using a spoon.
