Angry Help... Car won't start (distributor???)

Like the subject line says... my car won't start. I just changed the plugs and wires, the engine was running really rough. I found out later it was the distributor, so I'm told. My water pump leaked on to the dist. and well fun things happened. So I changed the Dist. and plugged everything back in and now the car won't start... the engine turns over but won't start, instead it just turns over and backfires every now and then. Any help would be appreciated.

Daniel

Even if someone has an idea on what it is... let me know and i'll go search for it. But right now I really don't have a clue.

I would check spark plug wire routing first.
