Help engine swap 96 camaro 94 motor and crank sensor

Im hoping someone can help.

I have a 96 camaro. I just bought a new motor but found out its a 94 motor.

So I replaced the distributor with a modified distributor like the MSD with the spline gear and vent hoses.

Im in the middle of puting everything on the motor and ran into the problem.

The old motor had a crank sensor.
The new motor does not have a crank sensor on the timing cover.

I need to know if their is a way to add the crank sensor to the 94 timing cover or a way to eliminate the crank sensor.

I would just swop everything out but the problem is I bought a new distributor for the 94 timing cover whith the added vent hoses before I noticed the 96 motor had the crank sensor.

I really hate to have spent the money on the distributor for nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Need help bad. Cant finish car. its my wifes car and I had to replace the motor because the old motor froze up.

I can be e mailed at lazboytt@hotmail.com

The CPS can just be programmed out - no worries. The PCM only uses it for misfire detections, so with it unplugged it won't be a problem.

Thanks for the information.

Do you know where you can go to have that done? or how to do it?

I do have a odb 2 scanner if it can be done with that

You'll need to get aftermarket PCM programming such as www.pcmforless.com. A scanner will not reprogram, only scan.

In the time being, you can leave it unplugged and it won't hurt a thing (except the SES will be staring you in the face).
