HELP Shoebox.........fans wont turn on...
SO i get my car back from the body shop today and the damn thing keeps overheating at stop lights and even when im going anywhere under 45 or so.........but on the highway it runs as cool as ever........now this NEVER happend before the wreck and i am wondering why my fans wont turn on..........i WAS throwing a code 77 which has something to do with a fan relay??? But i dont know how to fix it or where to get a new relay to replace it!!!! And yes i did add coolant to check for that and i purged or bleeded the system to make sure that wasnt the culprit.....so im thinking its that relay, or maybe the connector got unhooked?? you know? ANY help appreciated because i havent driven my car in 3 months and now that i have gotten it back it is getting too hot to drive...........not all the way to the red but pretty close........any ideas guys???

Check the fuse in the box under the hood and test the fan relays in the fuse box using your battery. Apply 12v across pins 85 and 86 on each relay. If you get a click then they are probably working fine although it's best to test with a DMM.

There could be a lot of wiring to check if it has just come from the repair shop. Might be a relay, though. You can swap the relays one at a time with the fog lamp relay and use it to test them. Do the fans come on when you turn on the a/c? Another thing to check is if the repair was in the front, is if they put the air dam back on.
Get rid of the code, first and then see how it does.

No the fans dont come on when i turn on the ac.........and it kinda was some front end damage but not too bad..........i will check for the air damn but do you think it could be something as simple as checking the connector??? I will have to wait until tomorrow to check that............I dont know about how to check the relays but how much do they cost and where can i get them........also, do i need all of the relays for my fans to work because i noticed there are 3 of them...........thanks for the quick replies...

As suggested, check the fuse, first (#6 under the hood). If you can read a schematic, you can use it to troubleshoot (lower portion shows the 3 relay system). If not I can give you some ways to test. You might need a test light or meter and some wire to temporarily jumper some things.
Check the relays like I already said by swapping them one at a time into the fog lamp socket and turn on the fog lamps to be sure they work. It's probably not a relay, anyway. You only need the #1 relay to operate both fans on low speed. Relays are a few bucks at the auto parts store.
