Help with squeak from driver rear ?

Ive searched and searched and still no solution, so here goes...

Ive been trying to track this squeak down for a while. When I am stopped and accelerate suddenly in forward or reverse, I get a pretty decent squeak from behind me.

Does it with the hatch open and closed.

I thought my upper rear shock mount might be too tight or too loose, but I still get the squeak when its damn tight and when its pretty loose.

Doesnt do it 100% of the time, but quite a bit.

Tore the interior panel out, removed the speaker and pulled the carpet forward, then had a friend get back there and listen. He said it sounds like its coming from behind the quarter panel sheet metal. From outside the car the sound is very muffled and quiet, so we're pretty sure its from inside. We felt down in there thru the speaker hole and we have no freaking clue what could be causing it...

Any suggestions anyone? Thanks...

Hmmm, i was going to say your brakes squeeking a little bit but it sounds like you guys are looking deeper than that, try some brake kleen on the rotors and pads. then see if it still squeeks.

Re: Help with squeak from driver rear ?

thx for the help but its definitely comong from somewhere inside the car. When you stand outside, you almost cant hear the squeak at all, but inside its quite loud

any other suggestions?

Spare tire and jack are out. And its definitely coming from the driver side, and sound a lot like its from behind the inside of the quarter panel. Anyone know whats back there?

I have the same problem but on the passenger's side. I believe that somewhere in here, someone posted that if the shock isn't perfectly centered it is what squeaks.

From the look of your mods list, would guess you have poly bushings. Try greasing them. They squeak alot when they dry out.

Re: Help with squeak from driver rear ?

I really apreciate all the help guys, and maybe I wasnt clear, so I will explain it again.

It is inside the car.

When you stand outside, the noise is almost inaudible. If it were my poly bushings (which I have greased), my brakes, my rear end, or anything else NOT inside the car, wouldnt the noise be louder outside then inside?

Re: Help with squeak from driver rear ?

Noise and vibrations travel very well. So it is possible its a shock not centered. I get that sound once in a while going over speed bumps.

Re: Help with squeak from driver rear ?

If it was the shock, would it be loud outside the car too?

And how would I tell if the shock is not centered?

Thanks again for all the help/suggestions guys

Re: Help with squeak from driver rear ?

try putting your back seat down and wrapping some tissue or something around the black posts where the seat clicks into ... then close your seat and see if that helped ....
