I know its a pain in the ***, but its the only way to do it right without messing up the threads in the head.

Ditto Marcin. You need to screw that bolt in first to get the head of the bolt deep enough to clear a box end/open end wrench.
btw...you can leave your sockets in your toolbox when you bolt headers on an LT1 Fbody .

You can try to buy the bolts that tighten up with an allen wrench in the center, it might make it easier. I used one on the last header bolt on the driver side.

no thats not it I am having problems with the second bolt closest to the nose it will not go in straight.
The onyl way i can get the bolt to go in straight is when the ehader is out and then I have to put it back in and it catches on the head and the header willl not go into place.

well i had the same problem with you when i installed mine, after a while i ahd a buddy hold the header up from underneath or w/e i asked him to while i screwed in the bolt so it would go in correctly, cause i dont have 3 hands and it kept falling down when i would have it in place....
try to get someone to help you hold the header!

I would really like to do this mnyslef if iuse the allenheads on the ones that are hitting the header going in would that work?

Re: help stuck on header install, how to tightem bolts???
actually it prob would, because you dont have a socket going over the nut, you have the allen wrench going insde the middle...so it shouldnt hit nothing, maybe rub on the header a bit....
