help!! want to get into 12's!!!!

My 95 (see in sig) i was wondering what i could do to get into 12's where my dad's zo6 is? I just redid the rear end 10 bolt with 373's and i want something that wont destory it. A small H/C setup? If so please be specific on costs and labor and reliability of this job. Also what would i be pushing horsepower wise? What else would i have to change? PLEASE HELP.

thanks

cody

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!

Your sig needs a better breakdown....

You have stock compression pistons? a new stock cam? new stock rockers? What exactly do you have done.

All an A4 needs to get in the 12's is intake/headers/exhaust/stall converter and sticky tires.

Well first off where are you located? And are you wanting high 12's? That should be fairly easy with all bolt ons and a good stall (your auto correct)..... If your wanting deep 12's your going to have to go with a cam or a H/C setup... A mid range cam will get you there with stock heads. Pretty much anything that hooks really hard will eventually break the 10bolt unfortunately... :-/ If you got any questions feel free to contact us..

Most A4 car rears will survive a while with a T/A girdle. Mine has 300+ passes and still chuggin. I can cut 1.6's with ease.

Just so you know, lt1's have a single cam, not "cams" like your sig says.

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!

I think a CC306 cam (and 1.6 roller rockers and higher lift valve springs) with Hooker long tubes or even Pacesetters (for the money, they're a good header), and the already mentioned, stall converter (2800 or even up to a 3200 stall speed) and drag radials. Of course a nice port and polish on the heads would really seal the deal nicely, but if money won't allow it, just give the cam kit, stall, and tires a try.

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!

There are better cams than the CC306.
Contact Loyd Elliot on the board vendor and talk to him about a set of heads and cam,a matching set, and porting the intake.
Get headers and exhaust and a converter and some sticky tire and ya should be there, maybe way past into the 11's.
Or a 150-200 shot of hose.

Converter about $700
Headers and "Y" pipe about $800
Cam,RR's,springs, retainer,locks about $1000
Your castings ported and ready to bolt on about $2000+
Port intake about $500
Injectors about $500
Gaskets about $200
Tune about $200

Personal satisfaction, priceless.

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!

An out of the box cam should run about 250-400$. Im not sure about a custom grind cam. If youre running street tires and theyre hooking now with boltons they wont be with a cam or h/c combo. you need atleast drag radials or street slicks. About exhaust ive heard alot of people like gmmg or 2.5" true duals.

The price will vary by quite a bit. Parts alone could run 1000-2000$ depending on what setup you go with. And $3000+ if you want to prevent breaking things you might have to upgrade the transmission (depending on how much hp/torque you make) and upgrade the rearend and other parts of the driveline/suspension to handle the sticky tires.

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!

i really don't have 4 grand to spend on the car though. see the original post .....im lookin for the cheapest way to get into mid to high 12's...i don't wanna outrun my dads zo6 i just want to run with him. what would be my best bet with around a grand?? I don't want to use spray i think thats cheap and i don't think my bottom end could handle it anyways. Could i get away with JUST a cam? what would that do? plus...what could i do by my self to save labor? any thoughts ?????

Headers and "Y" pipe about $800

Add some 1.6 rr (like comp pro mag 7/16 nsa-- you need guideplates and 7/16" studs)

oh you already have rockers.. ok put the last couple hunge tward an electronic cutout instead.
