Unhappy Hesitation at speed, help

Ok, I did some searching and covered a lot of stuff involving hesitation at lower rpm with take off. My problem is at speed, now I can drive all day any where below 50mph. When I try to cruse at 50mph I get a slight hesitation/jerk over and over. Its nothing insanely bad, but its one of those things that could get bad.
When I drive on the interstate and keep her at a consent 70mph theres no problem. When I pull from 50mph theres no problem either. The car does need a alignment, which I'm doing tomorrow when adding new rims/tires. Im guessing this wont solve my problem.
Another thing that may not be related, but my check engine light clicked on yesterday, which I checked today with my mechanic. He told me it was the ERG valve, not to worry too much about it. It may not be anything. If the check engine clicks on again we'll dig deeper. Thanks in advance for any help, hopefully its nothing to stress about.

Re: Hesitation at speed, help

Sounds like that could be a sympton of an EGR valve, but I would be prone to think it would make the vehicle run like a$$ all the time. If you've recently picked up the car and haven't owned it for a long period of duration, I'd check the miles and go back and see what needs to be replaced at certain mileage and see if anything is overdue. Preventative maintenance issues that perhaps the previous owner (or one of) did not care to address.
