High beams in low beam place

Anyone ever just put high beam lights in the low beam place? I know there is a wattage difference. Can the wiring handle having all high beams becuse my low beams dont cut it and i even swapped in the Silverstar bulbs.

Something that others have tried is to take a burnt out set of Stock sealed headlights and cut out the stock lights and put a new brighter set in and JB weld them to make sure they are sealed. There was a write up on doing this a while back

Thats what I did. I glued some Sylvania Silverstar lights into the stock housings. They still arent bright enough. I just want to know if the wiring can handle all 60w bulbs cuz if they can thats what im gonna do.

My mistake I didn't realize you'd already tried that BTW: I was interested in doing this swap can you tell me where, and if you can remember a part number/model number for these bulbs. Thanks, Kris.

Should not be a problem. I have been running 85 watt bulbs in my low beams for years and had no problems. I'm sure a fuse protects the headlight circuits, so rock on.

Kris, 9005, and 9006 are the bulb numbers you need for the swap , i dont remeber which number is the high or which is the low, i use eurolite bulbs, the have a nice blue or you can get the purple, i think they even have a orangeish bulb too, i get the bulds for 19 bucks a pair which is alot cheaper then buying the 24.99 each replacement bulb housing, and even cheaper then the silverstars which i have heard alot of different opinions about, some say the silver star is not really that big of a difference nover the stockers , ohh yea btw you can also get the eurolite bulbs for your fog lights looks awsome with all matching colors.

9006 is the low beam and 9005 is the high beam. Im just going to get some more 9005s for the low beams since they arent really any brighter than the stockers. They just look more white than the stockers. The stockers have more of a yellow hue to them.

Instead of messing with the low beams why don't you put in some better driving lights?

I have done this but I also changed my lights so that the low beams are now in the high beam place and vice versa.
I pulled the 9006 out and replaced it with some ricer version of the same bulb. It is brighter and a little different from every other camaro on the road.

Well I went ahead and bought 2 Sylvania Silverstar 9005 high beams and glued em in the low beam housings. The only thing I had to do was remove 2 plastic guides that are in the socket on the bulb. The plug for the low beams is different. Easy modification. Now I have 4 60W bulbs. Nice and bright.
