ill re explain since i just drove it....start cold it goes to 1500 then goes to 16 17 1800 the stays...i drive down the street and inbetween shifts it tries to rev up higher...got to 50 pushed in the clutch and it goes to 16-17-1800 and stays....next light i push in clutch it goes from 1500 to 1000 to 1400 to 1000 to 1400 a few time then when i stop it goes to 1200 then 1150 then 1100 then 1000 slowly
im stopped drive into the drive through and it idles fine at 1100 then drop to 1000 quickly
then its fine as it got warm...comming to a light it foes from 1600 in 5th to 1200-14000 bouncing back and forth until i stop then it idles down to 1000

no from waht i hear its a common lt1 6 speed thing that happens and can be fixed with tuning....most people dont pay enough attention to their car to notice problems like this...they jsut drive and stick gas in it...you cant hear it this doesnt change the dirveability at all...just annoying if you pay attention to your car

try playing with the IAC throttle follower via tuning. I also drilled out the hole between the throttle blades to give the motor a little more air when at closed throttle in idle.

Also what is your timing at idle. There is a closed throttle timing table. Mine is set to 30* but I run E85 so you may want to try like 27 or 28*

If you get a data cable from somewhere like AKM Cables and download DataMaster or one of the free data logging programs you should be able to figure out the exact issue pretty quick.

That could be anything from a coolant sender on the water pump, TPS, MAF, IAC valve, and the obvious vacuum leak/metered air leak.

With the car idling if you remove the brake booster vacuum line what happens?

If you have a way to read sensors look at the TPS and VSS to see if something goofy is going on. Also take a look at the PVC valve, pinch the line if you can.
