High RPM Problems Need Info/Help
Hurricane Charley ripped through Central Florida and luckily I was fortunate enough to keep my car in the garage during that time. My car sat for about 3 days (not that it has anything to do with anything) and on that Sunday I left for College.
While I was on my way to the interstate, I was at a stoplight and I got on it, and RPMs went up to about 5600 - 5800, and it felt like the entire car lost power. The gas pedal went mush and I could hear the car backfire. I thought maybe something was screwy, so before I got on I-75 I did it again, and sure enough, same power loss and backfire. I asked a friend of mine, and he said that it sounds like an ignition issue, so it is probably plugs or plug wires. We narrowed down it wasn't the OptiSpark, because when I bought it from the dealership in May (at 32,000 miles) they replaced the Optispark (long story, but I came out on top ).
I went to a local car shop up here, and I was told that it is most likely plug wires because it only has a little more than 40,000 miles on it. So basically I'm wondering if anyone else has any suggestions, I am not a starving College Student on a budget, but I wanna keep the LT1 running good while I'm up here. (Track Day on Wednesday )
Any and all help or suggestions are appreciated,
Thanks again,

Re: High RPM Problems Need Info/Help
One other thing to keep in mind ... Possibly the valves are floating ... Apparently the engine sat for some time if its an LT1 with only 40K on it now ... And if it sat for a really long time with the valve springs compressed or something?
I dont know, so dont hold my word for it, just a possible suggestion for you to look into.
