I've been chasing something for quite a while, thought it might be valve float. I think a year of abuse did it.
The lifter was below the guide and has spun some. The guide was still under the spider piece and the other lifter still in place.

Your cam prolly looks like this:
Your rockers prolly look like this:
And your pushrods prolly look like this:
Then you prolly have little pieces of lifter scattered about under the spider in your intake and pieces getting lodged in your oil pump/pickup which will lead to a spun rod bearing which leads to a scared crank and a full rebuild... trust me I know. Tear the motor down completely to be safe.
