Horsepower Question

Dyno numbers will be all over the chart if you take the same car to different dynos all over the country. Just tell them whatever you want to tell them. Who cares what dyno numbers you got. Take them for a ride, and let them experience for themselves. I put down 280/315 with full exhaust, intake, tune and a few other things. People would always ask what my dyno numbers were, instead of telling them, i just took them for a ride. Most people dont know the difference between 300rwhp and the 310 hp a mustang gt is rated at.

Why would I lie a bout something like that?
I think the "SS" option was the main reason for the above average power. I say that because the SS was rated at 315 HP. They came up with that # due to the cold air intake and cat back that SLP put on the car. I am sure a 96 Z28 with a FIPK and a cat back should do about the same . Factory build tollerances can alter the power to the tune of 20 hp.

i think the 96-97 ss was rated at 305hp, correct me if i am wrong please. i am not trying to start anything here but now i am guessing the hp numbers of the lt1 ss cars.
i would have to say around 300-310rwhp untuned, tuned i would add about 20 hp to those numbers.

I just can't believe that a dyno & track vid is not enough proof .
CANTONRACER: I have no words to describe your post. Just...WOW
z95lt1: Yes, the base SS option was a Ram Air hood (CAI) shifter, badges, 2OTL, spoiler, and rims (305 HP). The car ran mid 13's and destroyed the mustang cobra of the same year. http://www.stangbangers.com/96_Cobra...rd_Article.htm
If you didn't "fall" for the SS option , You could have bought a FIPK and a cat back of your choice and easialy matched the #'s of an SS. It's just that us lucky few are Super Special
I just don't get it. I guess scanning my dyno sheet would do little to convince some of you.
More over, why do I need to defend the higher option car? Nothing I have said or proved (I know that gets in the way of many of your points) is in any way out of the ordinary.
Lastly, sorry I didn't invite cantonracer to dyno day in 1998.

Which dynoshop and what type of dyno?
You know I worked at a dyno shop for a while...seen a few dyno?
Still find it funny when guys say their cars are stock...then once they start modding...what is this...parts on already on the car? Happens all the time.
And yes dude, SS cars where basically a bull**** option that ran the same as their Z28 counterparts...unless you were fortunate enough to get the LT4 option.
Wow...

I think your avatar is perfect.

Wish I worked at a dyno-equipped shop lol. Our hi-tech pieces are a emissions machine, two actually, and a snap on daignostic scanner.
Back to the thread though, the average full bolt on, cam only (including HOT CAM ) with a M6 is definatly at least 330RWHP. Most of them are in the 340-350RWHP range. And the highest I have ever heard of was right around 360RWHP.

Thanks!!!
I did have the computer tuned after installing the LT4 hot cam kit(not just the cam), It has Pacesetter headers also. Anyone know of a place in Tucson or Phoenix where I can dyno test it
