hotcam install questions...bear with me...

k, i have pieced together some of the key components for a hotcam/valvetrain upgrade...

got/en route:

hotcam itself

1.6rr's

lt4 knock module

now for the questions...

could you guys give me a part number for a good timing chain to go with this? read i didnt need to get the lt4 timing chain..

which valvesprings should i get? i also read that the 1.6rr with the hotcam kinduv stay in the upper limits of the lt4 springs...(prolly end up getting the lt4 springs anyways..)

part numbers for valve spring retainers, spacers or shims (if needed)? or anything else you guys think i should get....

thanks much, i've been searching all day and i think it hurt more than help... my brain is fried...

thanks...

josh

If you want all of that, might as well get the LT4 hotcam kit and save you some money instead of buying them separtely. I got the LT4 extreme duty timing set just for a piece of mind. You might want to get some hardened pushrods as 95 was the last year for then from the factory.

Dude just get the Hotcam Kit. You can get it from Jason CROMER for 490 shipped. You will save a lot more money then piece'n it out. I got that and the LT4 Extreme Duty chain set. The chain set was 200.

For the timing set you can go with the following GMPP:
12371043 or 12370835
If you don't want to go with the LT4 springs, you can go with the crane 10308 spring kit.

dayum, i thought i was doing good... got the cam for 100 shipped, the 1.6 rr for 150 shipped, so far 250... was expecting another 45 for springs ...as for the timing set, i am now planning on getting the stocker one..another 45... going to use the stock cap/shims/keys...that would bring the "hotcam kit" close to 340...

..the lt4 km for 40 was shipped...

sound ok?

$86 bucks for a timing chain what chain did you get. That sounds to high for a stocker and much to low for the ED LT4.

Big mistake, why not cancel that order and spend another 150 on some cheap insurance. People break stockers on stock motors let alone a cammed motor. I wouldn't risk it. In my opinion.

i hear ya.. its definately sitting in the back of my mind, but for right now, i just wanted to get everything i could get by with for the install.. (and i think with that nice of a part, it would void my ghetto hotcam kit)

i can handle putting in the extreme duty chain when i do my header install, but after this weeks shopping spree, i am out of funny money..
