Hotcam ONLY dyno numbers

Hotcam ONLY dyno numbers
Finally got on the dyno tonight to check out the gain from the cam. I can't
believe how much I gained. I got almost a 28 hp gain with the Hotcam ONLY, no tuning, no headers yet. So now I'm sitting at 324 rwhp SAE. I lost a few
pounds of torque throughout the powerband up until above 5k, then I'm making 30 more lb. feet.
Since I'm still on stock tuning, they had to cut me short (~5,800 rpm)....the
car was still building power at that point. I don't think it will get much
above 330 or so with a new redline set, but I'm extremely impressed with where it sits. Not bad with a little ole Hotcam through stock exhaust manifolds.
Once I get a set of headers, and tuning, I'm optimistic that it just might hit
the 350 rwhp mark.

Re: Hotcam ONLY dyno numbers
well, i can't say i've ever seen any hotcam only car go 350, but u can try. i think the highest known lt1 cam only car is owned by a member with a gm 847 cam. something around 355-360rwhp. i doubt you can make 350, but hey we're always finding new ways to make power.

Re: Hotcam ONLY dyno numbers
while we're on the subject, what are some ideal stock-headed cams for near(or fully) stock cars?
nice numbers, is there any way you can get a dyno graph of what your car did with the stock cam so you can lay the graphs over each other to compare where you lost/gained power and how much?

I personally wouldn't go any higher than a cc306 on a stock bottom end unless you don't mind the risk and can afford a rebuild should a bearing spin. Even the 306 spun a bearing on a buddy of mines z28 with 92k miles.
