Too late, I already got the springs (lt4 springs), retainers, shims, and keys. I got a great deal on them from a friend. Picked up the entire package still in the box for $30.

Anyone have an opinion on the RR I listed above?

Thanks,
Jason

you really cant go wrong with any crane or comp cams 1.6 rocker.
the comp cams tend to be stronger and the crane tend to be lighter, The roller is only good for about 2 HP.

I think the cheap springs you saw in Jegs are the non self aligning kind, I'm not real sure, but just to be safe I would buy the GM roller rockers. I think they are made by crane, but nevermind that. Go to www.gmpartsdirect.com and search for part number 12370839. That is what you need, about $260. Bolt it on and go. These are what come in the HOTcam kit.

I know the prices add up, but believe me, you don't want to piece a kit together from all kinds of diferent sources if you're really not sure what you are getting. Think of how bad it would suck to get the motor apart and have a part or parts not work, and be stuck like that.

The HOTcam kit part number is 12480002. You can look it up on www.gmpartsdirect.com and it gives a breakdown of every part number included in the kit.

Hope this helps
John

John,
I know what your saying...I'll check out gmpartsdirect and see what I can get. Thanks for the info.

As for the RR at Jeg's, this is what the write up says about them...
-Part# 778-66915C Small block with centerbolt valve covers, 1.6 Ratio, 3/8" stud, self-aligning ($189.99)

When I called Jeg's, they said that these would work fine in an LT1, but that was before I decided to get the cam and I was just planning on RR's. (Just FYI for anyone that wants to buy some 1.6 RR's)

Later,
Jason

Oh one other thing about roller rockers, the seem to extend the life of valve guides because the valve rocks less.

I say you get the kit, The rockers you are getting in the kit are basicly the 329.00 crane race rockers only not colored....

they will alway look perfect, you check them with a ball gauge and a micrometer. your looking for .002 to be out of spec, of course they always look perfect. BTW the higher the valve lift the harder it is on your valveguides...
