How bad is this?

Well i changed my oil the other day. I guess i forgot to put on my oil cap. I drove it like that for about 2 days untill yesterday i started to smell something wierd. I don't know if its coming from my car but i think it is. Anyways i noticed the cap was off when i popped my hood. How bad is this? Also do you think the smell could be related to the cap being off. Because i put the cap back on last night and today when i got to work i could still smell whatever it is. Its not coming from my engine. I could smell it more towards the back of the car. Let me know what you think.

You might want to change the oil again in case anything got in there. I doubt that anything would, but you never know.

Probably nothing to worry about; it's doubtful that anything fell into the oil resivior. The smell is probably oil that splashed on to the exhaust manifold, or even valve covers.

I did this 3 times to my old car , lol. Just put more oil in, clean the engine up and everthing will be fine. I actually drove from st. louis to kansas city and back, without an oil cap on or oil. GO TOYOTA.

Close her up and run her.

Check oil to make sure ya got enough first though.....and run it. Smell should go away if it doesn't then that's not your problem.....it's something else.

You'll be fine...don't worry about it. If it's really bothering you that much, change the oil and filter again. It's not necessary in my opinion though.

I don't think i'm gonna change it. The hood was closed the whole time with it off so i don't think anything got in there. But while i was looking in my engine bay yesterday to try and find the wierd smell i noticed 2 screwdrivers sitting in there. My Dumb friend left them in there. Luckily they didn't hit something. Or at least i hope they didn't hit anything.
