How bad should a heads/cam car run on stock tuning?

I have the mods listed in sig along with SVO 30lb injectors. I just completed the heads/cam conversion today. The problem is, it takes at least 10 seconds of cranking at a time to start the car, and I have to have it at WOT in order for it to fire. When it does start, it runs like total crap, its not even close to holding an idle, it will die immediately as i let off the gas. I haven't taken it for a ride yet, I don't think its even possible to drive honestly. I know it'll run like crap on stock tuning, but seriously, is it supposed to be this bad? Alvin (pcmforless) is working on a chip for me right now though, so I got that covered. I heard the injectors stop squirting when you floor the car while cranking it, if thats the case it sounds like its just so rich it won't start until I floor it and the injectors stop squirting. What do ya'll think? Keep in mind its a speed density 93

OK, I'm shooting from the hip here, but anyway....
I would say what you're experiencing is normal. Like you said, you have a '93 w/speed density and a CC306. Speed density PCMs with stock chips don't normally adapt very well to a sizeable cam like the CC306. I would think if you had a '94-'95, your car would run better on the stock tune; at least it would run. Mine runs really well on the stock tune but I run a "small" cam.

Well if you are running 30lbs SVO injectors with no tuning for the larger injectors then there is no way it is ever going to run properly.I would wait for the new chip or switch back to the stock injectors if you want to drive it until you get your new chip.

Pcmforless just sent me the new program, i gotta flash it into my chip, then I'll see how it runs.

my car on stock tune didnt have a problem at all at cranking... it fired right up
would idle but as soon as the motor got somewhat warm it would not idle
i drove it like this for 2 days then it started to idle... never got on it because i had to break the clutch in first
but i still drove it 400 miles like that first 2 days i had to hold the gas while trying to stop because it wouldnt idle so it was annoyin
hope your new tune works good for you...

from what i've seen, 93s will not run worth a **** on stock tuning once the fuel and cam have been messed with. plus the 30lb injectors are huge on the 93 because they only have like 22lb injectors stock. i know the 93s have smaller injectors than the 94-97s.

Yep, it just flat out runs like crap on the stock tune, I put in pcmforless's tune, and voila, it runs like a champ. Another for alvin at pcmforless.com

how much have those heads been shaved to get your compression to 11.8? or did you make some other changes?

Heads were milled .030, and I'm running an impy head gasket. It drops my combustion chamber to ~52.5-53 cc's, and the impy gasket improves quench. Lloyd Elliott recommended this setup to me, so I went with it
