how to completely flush transmission?

I will be doing a shift kit and converter soon. I know I will get a lot of the old fluid out that way, but is there a way to get it all flushed out? Everything out of the lines, pump, radiator, etc?

I hate to switch to trick shift and have it contaminated by the old stuff still in the lines...

You have to pump it out of the converter.

Usually a reputable tranny place will have a special machine for this.

I am swapping the converter, so I don't need to flush it...just the rest of the system...

They have a machine that taps into the trans cooler lines. It flushes the entire system. Should cost around 80-90 bucks.

Well if you are replacing the converter and doing a shift kit you should get all of it, or am I wrong? New converter with fresh ATF, and you have to drop the valve body for the shiftkit. I recently did this, and feel like I got all of the old fluid out of there, but then again, there may be somewhere else that it gets trapped, I dunno. I guess you could just blow air through the cooler lines to get all the fluid out of it.

I thought about using air, but am worried about blowing out the radiator...not sure how much air to use.

Also, is there residual fluid left int he pump even after the pan and valve body are off and the converter is out?
