How did you remove your cam?

First off the video makes it look and sound more violent than it was. 2nd that motor is an absolute throw away it was completely trashed. 3rd I've swapped over 10 cams at this point without any issues of cam bearings or journals. I guess you had to be there to see it. 4th the only reason it was done by 1 hand was because the motor was a throw away and I had no one else to video tape it. The cam was in zero danger removing it like that. Try a a one handed/opposite handed (im right handed) removal and see if you can do it better...lol. I wanted that video to show people in the future...
Sorry if this came off a bit defensive but I've been trusted time after time with peoples cam swaps and this was my own motor that was trashed. Safety was not so much in mind.

That's what I was thinking so some of these guys that have never done it don't get the idea that its ok to let it bang around like that. He does mention that it won't hurt the cam lobes, but if your reusing the motor its the cam bearings you don't want scratched up since they are the soft parts.

Your welcome guys. I'll be sure to throw in a disclaimer. If you see some of the other ones I have on hand such as the c5 z06 cam swap and even the reinstallation of the cam on that project you will see the difference in care taken. Again I think the audio makes the thing sound worse than it was. I was pulling it and there was no excessive force being thrown at that removal just a bobby camera from me trying to do the whole thing myself. And SS RRR your absolutely right I've known I've needed a tripod for a while now just haven't gotten around to getting one.

Cam removed..
Cam removal went real easy. No banging at all.. not bad for my first cam removal. ...
I am real glad that i decided to put fresh gaskets on because i noticed that one of the gaskets were blown!
Would have sucked big time to put the car all back together.. only to have to do a head gasket job..

The heads havent gone on yet. I have a set of stock ported casting that will be replacing the stockers. Those have been complete rebuild and are true.
Although that gasket issue could also be caused by detonation, and/or old age right? its got 100K+ on the clock.

I just wanted to make sure someone wouldn't put a set of heads back on without checking them, especially if they were aluminum.
