Hows the shortblock condition. If you have one with some life left in it and no issues, then yeah, go for a proven H/C set-up with the required supporting mods.

You're going to need headwork and a pretty big cam.

150 shot of nitrous or around 7psi forced induction. Neither of which are a great idea on a stock motor.

Nitrous is the simplest way to add performance. Keep in mind, if you had two cars with your goal of 400hp, and one got there with nitrous the other with breathing mods (heads, cam, etc.) the nitrous car would be quicker. But only when the nitrous was on and the H/C car would probably be more fun as an all around driver.

Keep in mind the old saying: you can have it fast, cheap, or reliable but you are only allowed to pick two of three.

Lots of Money and time!! Lloyd Elliott heads and cam is a good place to start!
I have bought two sets of heads and Cams, from him and he is great to work with and have made lots of power! But that only to start!
Good luck!! NOS is the Fast way, for sure, but can be the most $'s in the END!!!
