How do i/and should i switch to speed density

I have a 93 engine in my (dont know if that matters at all) and i am thinking about switching to SD. I still have my 97 OBII comp and wireing. What is involved and what are the good and bads of going SD.

Quick and cheap way:

Remove MAF and replace with a tube.
This will set a service engine light and fans will stay on all the time.

and the proper way to do it:

Reprogramming and then the above.

Well when ever i do disconect my MAF the car runs like ***.

waht are the pros and cons of going SD?
