How to FIx A/C leak

I finally found the leak in my A/C. The stell hose coming from the Radiator. Here is a link from shoeboxes site(Great site by the way) http://shbox.com/1/ac_system.jpg
The number 7 hose running by the battery seems to have melted somehow. (It looks like a burned plug wire). I am guessing the battery did it somehow, not really sure. Is there a way to plug this and not ruin the system like with rubber cement, I just dont want to get anything inside the a/c system. Or do I need to replace this.

The best thing would be to replace that line. If you just want to cover the hole to keep debris out then just tape it up.

As Real said replace the hose is best and safest bet. If the system has been exposed to air for any lenght of time you should consider replacing the reciever / dryer if you want to charge it and make it functional again. #12 on the shoebox picture. As part of its function is to pull moisture out of the system. It can only pull so much so long exposure to air is a bad thing. They are usually pretty cheap to do yourself.
And yes that is an awsome site. I donated money via Paypal to it based on some advice and the content. Very valuable resource. Shoebox is also a very active member here with the no BS approach.
