How hard to change hoses? Also heater hose question

I know the GM high miler kit comes with like 10 outa the 11 hoses you need...but isnt that just the coolant hoses? Are most of the heater hoses like the steel braded ones that are alot of $$? I ask because I cant find where my coolant is leaking from...so I can either get the high miler kit and replace those and hope that solves it, or take it to my trusted mechanic and have them find the leak up on a lift.

I know our engines are a bitch to work on, so how hard is it to really change those hoses. Do you have to drop the radiator for a few of them or not.

Thanks for any advice.

I know this isn't the question you are asking, sorry, you might want to check the heater core for leaks, I had mine leak a couple of weeks ago and it looked like it was coming from around the area of the cat and then when I put the car up on the ramps to see what was going on it decided to go into my passenger side floor....so yeah, check that, and if your carpet in the rear or front passenger side is wet then it's probably the heater core.

Have you even opened the hood of your car yet?

If you cannot locate the leak, maybe Autozone has a pressurizer that they can use to help you out. Otherwise, I'd stop by the old radiator shop They should be able to help.

I don't believe any of your hoses are braided.

If you have headders, check No 20 on the diagram. It is rubber and may have a burn hole in it.JMHO

What the hell is that supposed to mean dipsh!t? NO, how do you open the hood!

Like I said, I have checked all of the hoses that I can get to..right after I get home when the engine is still hot(hoses still hot) I raise the car, get up under it and check everything. Cant see any leaks. I actaully did see one leak a few weeks ago, and replaced that hose, so now that hose doesnt leak. Leaks coming from somewhere else now.

Well, I asked that question because you asked, "how hard is it to change a hose?" Changing a hose is one of the easiest things to do on our cars, which leads me to believe that you didn't look or try to change them before asking. Sorry if I offended you!

You may want to consider that your waterpump may be going bad and the coolant is coming from the weep hole, or the seals on the cross-over tube on the back of your heads may need to be replaced.

The Goodyear kit gives you hoses to put on the metal and rubber heater hose. Open crimps on metal hose and replace with Goodyear pieces and clamp on with hose clamp.

No ive changed hoses before..but from looking under it, it looks like a few go deep behind the radiator..so I was asking if I gotta drop the radiator to change 1 or two of them. Guess not.
I jes took it to the shop(I know the guy up there) so they hooked up a pressure tester...it didnt really drop too much, and we couldnt find a leak. Then he tested the radiator cap, which is supposed to be 18PSi, and he said it would only hold about 3 or 4. Hopefully thats the problem, going to get a new one after my haircut.

BTW, I had to use a dremmel to cut the metal hose connection on the heater hose. It would probably have been less work had I replaced the whole heater inlet hose. That's why it is important NOT to burn your inlet heater hose with headers.
