How hard is it to Remove the AC compressor?

How hard is it to Remove the AC compressor?
How hard is it to get the AC compressor off.
And what is in the way what do I have to take off to take it out.
Sec thing that comes to mind is how the heck do I keep the oil in the new compressor when I put it in?
I would think you would have to bolt the compressor in then put the line on.
I just can't bring myself to bring it back to the shop for the warranty.
I don't want them to break any more things on my car.
Thanks,
Chris G.

Re: How hard is it to Remove the AC compressor?
its super easy, i just did it on saturday. it took me about 5 hours, but i was real hungover and took about 3 lunch breaks. first thing you do is take off belt tensioner (2 10mm bolts). then you take off the pipe (1 13mm bolt on the back). to get to that one i had to take off the alternator, use a small ratchet and an extension and wire it through the headers. if you are good with your hands you could probably do it from the bottom of them car. then you need to take off either 1 bolt holding the bradcket on, or the two hoilding the comrpessor to the bracket on the back. i took off the two as it was easier to get too. then take off the 3 bolts in the front, pull it and slide it out.
the PAG oil will not come out of the compressor when you are putting it back in, i manuevered mine many ways and it did not.
just put the comrepssor in the way it came out, slide it in.

Re: How hard is it to Remove the AC compressor?
Ok so I took my car in to fix the AC.
The compressor is locked up.
So the guy told me that if there is any aluminum shavings that I sould replace the Evaporator Core and maby the Expansion Valve too.
He said that it would be hard to flush the Evaporator.
Does this sound right to you?
I have never worked on AC system with a Expansion Valve on it.
Just the older style with the Orifice Tube.
I would flush the system and replace the Orifice Tube.
And be done with it.
It sucks because they put the compressor in when the put my engine in so
no labor warranty.
So all the labor is on me.
Sucks
Let me know what all of you think
Thanks,
Chris G.
