How long for engine rebuild?
#16
That 2-3 hours is great. Most of my installs have never been in the car in that configuration, headers,WP,fuel regulator, all this stuff has never been hooked up before.
As far as price a dealer charges 1,500.00 to R&R and most won't fool with a hot rod.
I charge 1K for the R&R and 2K labor to build your Engine and you pay for all parts, and machine work, and muffler shop. And that is cheaper than most.Just trying to eat not make a killing.

Well, putting it in from the bottom allows you do bolt up ALL of the accesories, headers, run the wires, everything. It makes a lift worth it's weight in gold. It makes it so easy, that we even drop the motor out to swap head gaskets! for 4th gen work, I consider a lift as essential as a torque wrench.

when you drop it out the bottom how do you do it? do you take out the tranny with it? cuz my mechanic didn't understand how it would work and if there would be enough space to do it so he just pulled it out the top. i wish there were more ppl around here that worked on camaro's esspecially for the money that i'm puttin into it...i think my license plate will say "MONYPIT" thanks for the help

When you pull it out the bottom with NO lift it is a bitch.A lift makes it easy.I can put it in from the top in a couple hours and don'have to fool with all that front end stuff,or build a cradel with weels to get it out from under the car.IT's all in what you are set up to do.
I generally leave the tranny in the car and have had no problems doing it that way.I can also pull it with the tranny so again it's what you are set up to do.I would love a rack, but my shop is not tall enough so a cherry picker it is.
Whats so bad about out the top.A dealer will charge you 1500 weather they take 4Hrs or 10hrs.As long as the job get's done correctly what's the dif.
It's different strokes for different folks.

yeah when u dont have a lift or an engine hoist, dropping it from the bottom is the only way.. luckily i think it easier than going from the top.
there are a couple threads with links to how to drop it from the bottom.. Do a search and u should come up with a couple.. Once the car is jacked up (very high) its a 4 hour job for 2 people who have a fair idea of what they are doing.
