How much better is the stock 96 LT4 cam than the 94 LT1 cam?

I have a 1994 Formula A4 car and will be having it rebuilt pretty soon. I would like to put in a stock 96 LT4 camshaft because I don't want a cam that is too much bigger than stock, plus I will have the 1.6 RR to go with it. Is the LT4 cam a lot better than the stock 94 LT1 cam as far as power and torque. I know that there is a slight difference in the two cams. I have read that the 96 LT4 cam dowel pin is shorter than the 94 LT1, due to the optisparks being different. Is there any way to install the LT4 cam in the LT1 without having to convert to the vented optispark system. Also how what kind of idle does the stock LT4 cam have as compared to the LT1 cam? Thanks please reply everybody

I think you will have to convert to a vented opti, not sure though.. As far as the LT4 cam goes, it just has a little more lift than the LT1 cam does. But the LT4s came with 1.6rr stock, so if you put 1.6rr s on the car, the LT1 cam will actually have more lift than a stock production LT4 cam. Idle should be about the same, they have the same LSA. If you want to swap cams, look at www.cmotorsports.com or better yet give them a call, they will hook you up. Don't waste money on the stock LT4 cam.
