I would't buy or not buy a car based an $9 thermostat

upgraded? i dont think you can really upgrade them

you can get a 160* stat that makes your car run colder., reduce engine life and gain you next to no power

ok... ill break it down

Mac headers - gain.. about 15-20 rwhp
off road pipe - only really making the car illegal in most states.. so you have no cat.. I say 5rwhp at the most!
Flowmaster - slight gain depending on model.. I had the 30 series which was a 3" in and single 3" out
T-Stat - HA!
K&N Filter - I found that they dont always perform better than stock. Check sig below.
MAF- again, not worth it..

So, lets say your car had 275 at the motor when new.. now you have age... I say you will dyno:
A4 - 245-255
M6 - 250-260
those are my realistic estimates.. Your largest bottle neck is your intake.. get a CAI kit and see some power.

It isn't a steal, but it is a pretty fair price. Has there been any recent maintence work done to it recently, ie.. tune up, power steering pump, opti, water pump, window motors?? Do a search on these items and you'll find they need to be replaced peiodically, some people more than others
